HyTek TeamManager Entry File for BC Provincials

Entries have to be in soon.  The deadline is  30 March 2009

The meet manager for the 2009 BC Provincials swim meet has released the HyTek file for download.  Teams are requested to use TeamManager to do their entries for this year's Provincial Championship Meet in Duncan.

TeamManager Entry File - 2009 BC Masters Provincials

The MSABC Board strongly recommends that teams do electronic entries for the following reasons:

1.  It significantly reduces the manual data entry tasks for the meet manager and organization;
2.  It eliminates the data entry errors associated with swimmers being entered in the wrong events,  names being spelled wrong and wrong sex entries;
3.  It provides the teams with a variety of reports by swimmer and by events that assist coaches during that actual meet.

The initial building of the team takes a little time and requires the entry of birthdates and MSABC numbers.  Once the team is built, the entries for an individual meet are extremely easy to do and fast.

TeamManager 5.0 Lite is free to download and use and can be obtained at:

http://www.hy-tekltd.com/downloads.html

The 1km challenge is a continuous 1km pool swim that is conducted by members of Masters Swimming Canada with their home swim club, or on their own.

On December 7th 2008, the MSC board approved a new version of the Swimming Rules portion of the MSC rulebook. These rules came into effect January 1st, 2009.  Two important changes - no false starts and no watches.  The English version of the rules is posted here:  MSC Swimming Rules

There is only one official rule change which is the switch from a one false start rule to a no false start rule. The no false start rule is the standard rule in international Masters competition and non-Masters competition.  In addition, the wording of several rules has been changed to reduce inconsistent interpretation.

One example that MSABC swimmers should be aware of is that merely wearing a watch is now explicitly against the rules.  In the past, many officials would only DQ a swimmer if they observed that the swimmer using the watch for pacing purposes.  Under the new rules, any swimmer observed to be wearing a watch will be disqualified.

  • MSABC's 'League' & 'Champions' Trophies

         This year, in an effort to get more participation during our competitive season, MSABC has introduced 2 new awards. The first is the 'League Trophy' which will go to the team that has scored the most number of points* during our 'league' meets - UBC (November), Nanaimo (November), Duncan (January), English Bay (February), Victoria (March) and Delta (April).  The more swimmers your club sends to each of these meets, the better your chances of scoring more points. This trophy will be awarded at our AGM during that year's Provincials.

         The second award, the 'Champions Trophy', will be presented to the team that scores the most points at our Provincial Championships.  Once again, the larger the contingent of swimmers your team sends to Provincials, the better are your chances of winning. Seeing though that most teams will have left for home before all the points have been tallied, we would present this award at our first meet of the following season (UBC in November).  In both cases, points will be awarded on a first to eighth place finishing in each event for each age group.  As there are normally no more then 8 participants in any event in MSABC meets, participating swimmers will almost always earn points for his/her team going towards the final score. The winning teams, both League & Champions, will also receive a permanent banner that they may hang at their home pool.

    * points will be awarded using the Hy-Tek  system's 20 points for 1st, 17 points for 2nd, etc.
