Senior Games

This year SwimBC will be sanctioning the Swimming portion of the BC Senior Games. What does this mean to our swimmers? Any registered MSABC swimmer swimming at the Senior Games for their region can apply for Masters Records in individual events, in their respective age groups. We are presently working with SwimBC to obtain the sanction number and ensure that all appropriate officials are on deck for a properly sanctioned meet. Sanction is PENDING at this time. Relays do not qualify since you will not be representing a registered MSABC team at the games. We have revised the records application form for you which will be available at the meet and online on the website under resources. You will be responsible to gather the necessary information and signatures, including a copy of the meet results for your event to be forwarded to our records keeper Julie Jones at 4948 11A Ave., Delta , BC , V4M 1Z4 .

Zone 4 Swimming Coordinator for the Games.

SwimBC, The Arthritis Society, and the Arthritis Research Council have partnered together to raise awareness of Arthritis in the community and to promote life-long aquatic activity as a fundamental part of healthy living. Ethical Decisions

Making Ethical Decisions" module that all new coaches must now complete prior to them being granted certification.

Current coaches, who are currently certified as "Level 1", must complete this Making Ethical Decisions (MED) module by December 31, 2007 , to maintain their certification.  Instructions on how to do this are on the SWIMBC website, as well as being available on the CSCTA website (www.csca.org).

This will also serve to make them a certified "Skills Coach" as Level 1 no longer exists within the NCCP framework.

Information received by Mike Fledge at Swim BC

SEE NCCP INFORMATIONAL CHART POSTED ON SWIMBC.CA WEBSITE FOR MORE DETAILS ON COACHING LEVELS AND REQUIREMENTS

Club Contacts

It is compulsory that each club registering in the 2007/08 year provide the registrar with an email club contact account. We need to be in touch with the Clubs throughout the year and must have a way of contacting them. Should you not wish to provide an individuals email account we suggest you create a Hotmail or Yahoo account for your Club and have a member responsible for checking the account on a regular basis. This will keep member’s email addresses private and the Clubs informed. The Registrar/Treasurer has been instructed that this is mandatory before he can accept funds from each Club.

Swimmer Reg #'s

Effective September 1, 2006 all sanctioned swim meets in Canada required meet entries to be accompanied by a 9-digit registration number. This is why all Master swimmers have been issued a new 9-digit number since we fall under this new ruling by our association with Swim BC and Swimming Canada (SNC). All swimmers registered on Swim Direct were assigned a new number; this number can be obtained from your club registrar.

A Motion was made at the April 2007 AGM as follows:

The MSABC Board will supply registration cards and letters of membership to swimmers by request only.

Requests to be sent to registrar@mastersswimming.bc.ca
