Each year, MSABC teams demonstrate their team spirit and commitment to excellence throughout the swim season. Teams that regularly compete in MSABC meets vie for the League Trophy and banner in their division by accumulating points from sanctioned meets held prior to the Provincial Championship meet.

A couple of years ago, we initiated the MSABC Monthly Challenge. All teams participating in a set number of challenges received an MSABC swim cap with the new MSABC logo and perhaps a special trinket.

MSABC Monthly Challenge

From September through April (8 months), we will have a monthly theme. Any team member (or members) can participate — all of your MSABC team members will receive credit for that month. Big prizes: participate in 5 of 8 months; fun prizes: participate in 3 of 8 months; Super Prize: all 8 months.

Our MSABC Fun Monthly Challenge theme for the 2026-2027 season is Either/Or. Each month, we will have several Either/Or challenges. Your team can get together and decide which challenge they'd like to tackle and send in a photo, video, or social media link related to the theme (tag #mastersswimmingbc on IG and/or FB or send to communications@msabc.ca). Send in your entries by the 5th of the following month (i.e. by October 5th for the September challenge).

We love when the whole team takes on the challenge together (shout out to Westshore Masters and Ravensong for their very creative entries). We also accept entries from individual team members and Spirit Bears.

• Celebrating Thanksgiving (Oct. 12); OR

• Twisted Tuesday/Silly Sunday — send us videos of crazy combo swim strokes/drills/games (Any Sunday or Tuesday in October)

MSABC Trophies

The MSABC Board presents awards to teams that excel at league meets. The team trophies and individual awards are presented at the MSABC Awards Banquet, typically held on the Saturday evening of Provincials.

League Trophies go to the teams scoring the most points in their division at our league meets; these are all the sanctioned meets held before our Provincial Championships. The more swimmers your club sends to each of these meets, the better your chances of scoring more points. Points are awarded at sanctioned meets as follows: 20 pts-1st place finish, 17 pts-2nd, 16 pts-3rd, 15 pts-4th, etc., with double the points for relays.

If you want to host a meet that contributes to the League Trophy standings, please read the MSABC League Trophy Policy regarding sanctioning procedures. We especially encourage teams to host sprint race meets (25s and 50s) to motivate newer competitors to attend a meet.

Team division placement is based on the number of active team members (as verified by Swim BC and the MSABC Registrar) two weeks prior to the Provincials. If you have any questions about the MSABC team size policy, contact the Awards & Incentives Committee.

     Div 1: 1 – 30 members
     Div 2: 31 – 50 members
     Div 3: 50 – 90 members
     Div 4: 91+ members

The second award, the Champions Trophy, is presented to the team that scores the most points at the Provincial Championships. Once again, the larger the contingent of swimmers your team sends to Provincials, the better your chances are of winning. If the points are such that, prior to the final event of the meet, a team is assured of the win, the trophy will be awarded before the final event. In the event that the winning team will only be decided during the final event, when most teams have already left for home, we will present this award at one of our first meets of the following season.
